Scoring methodology

Scores are not for sale. Every criterion, weight and change is public and versioned so anyone can reproduce the rankings.

Active version: v1.1 Published: September 17, 2026 Coverage threshold: 70%

Criteria & weights

Each criterion is scored 0–10 from documented evidence. The overall score is the weighted average of criteria with data.

  1. Licensing & regulation30%

A financial-services licence verifiable on the regulator's own register, the regulator's tier, and its separation from mere company registration.

  2. Cost transparency20%

Advertised spreads and commissions, swaps, hidden fees, and how observed costs in our test match the broker's claims.

  3. Support quality15%

Response time and quality on a real ticket, support languages and availability.

  4. Order execution (tested)15%

Live-account test results: observed spread, slippage, execution speed and requotes.

  5. Platforms & tools10%

Platforms, analysis tools, stability and the range of tradable assets.

  6. Deposits & withdrawals10%

Deposit and withdrawal methods, fees and the actual settlement time in our withdrawal test.

Score = Σ(weight × score of criteria with data) ÷ Σ(weights of those criteria)Coverage = Σ(weights of criteria with data) ÷ Σ(all weights)

Change the criteria weights and watch the ranking move. A “no data” criterion is excluded from the average and coverage is shown instead; below 70% coverage the score is flagged “incomplete”.

How “no data” is handled

When we lack reliable data for a criterion, we never fill it with an assumed number or an average. The criterion is excluded from the average, data coverage drops instead, and the profile shows a hatched bar.

Coverage threshold

If data coverage is below 70%, the score is labelled “incomplete assessment”, so a newcomer with two good criteria never appears above a fully assessed broker without the reader knowing.

Sponsorship rule

Sponsorship or affiliate links have no input into the calculation and never change the order. Ads appear only in separate, clearly labelled “Sponsored” placements.

Correction policy

Error reports are reviewed within 48 hours. Every correction is logged in the profile's change history with old value, new value, source and date — never silently.

User complaints

Complaints are published after spam checks, removal of personal data and an opportunity for the broker to respond. A published complaint alone does not change the score unless backed by verifiable evidence.

Regulator tiers

A licence from a tier-1 regulator carries more weight in the regulation criterion. A bare company registration is never counted as a licence.

  • Tier-1 regulator (e.g. FCA, ASIC)
  • Tier-2 regulator (e.g. CySEC, DFSA)
  • Tier-3 / offshore regulator
  • Company registration only — not a financial-services licence

Live-account test protocol

The “order execution” criterion comes only from a live-account test. Time, account type, symbol, volume, network, market conditions and sample limitations are recorded with each result.

  1. 1Open a small real account
  2. 220 orders across 3 sessions
  3. 3Record spread & slippage
  4. 4Support ticket
  5. 5Withdrawal & settlement time
  6. 6Publish with evidence

Broker right of reply

Any broker can claim its profile and, once its representative is verified, submit documented correction requests or an official response.

  1. 1Claim and verify the representative
  2. 2Submit documents or a response
  3. 3Editorial review within 5 business days
  4. 4Publish the response or correction and log it in history
